Thursday Thoughts
September 4, 2008
Carlton Rider, Principal |
Last year our school was involved in three
incidents in which it would have been to our
advantage to have been able to notify
parents immediately about these situations
and how each was being handled by the
administration. Beginning this year, our
school is now part of the National School
Alert system. The NSA is an emergency
communications network designed to provide
schools with the ability to instantly
contact parents/guardians in the event of an
emergency through email, text messaging, and
automated phone calls. NSA has the ability
to send out thousands of calls per minute.
NSA is a web-based application that does not
require special equipment from school;
simply, a computer with internet connection,
or a telephone. National School Alert was
designed, built, and funded entirely by US
ComCorp. This is an emergency alert system
and will not be used for days in which
school is cancelled due to weather, unless
this occurs during the school day and there
is an early dismissal as a result of the
weather.
In order for you to be notified of an
emergency situation that may occur at
school, I ask that you
please complete the
form
and send it
to school on or before Wednesday, September
10, 2008. For the present, you may choose up
to four telephone numbers (land line, cell,
or both), four emails, and two text message
numbers.
