Thursday Thoughts
May 14, 2009
Carlton Rider, Principal

Glad Tidings to the following student-servers who were honored this past Sunday by the Serra International of Columbus at a special ceremony at St. Joseph Cathedral:

  • Zachary Jenkins – St. Joseph, Circleville

  • Tyler Corcoran – St. Joseph, Circleville

  • Catherine Hartman – Pope John XXIII

  • Jordan Blevins – St. John, Logan

  • Abby Albert – St. Mary, Lancaster

  • Leah Boyden – St. Mary, Lancaster

  • Grace Changet – St. Mary, Lancaster

  • Michelle Bowes – St. Mary, Lancaster

  • Sammy Dyer – St. Mary, Lancaster

And we certainly can’t forget the parents of these students and the parents of all those students who are altar servers in our parishes. For the most part, it is the parents who make sure that their children get out of bed and then transport them to church to fulfill their obligations as servers, whether that is for daily Mass, Sunday obligation, funerals or weddings. Again, Glad Tidings to the parents of our altar servers!

Our track dessert will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 6:00 p.m. in our school gym. All junior high track members and their families are invited to this event to honor our track team members.

Junior High athletic physicals will be given on Saturday, May 30th at Ohio University, Lancaster Campus gym. Girls start at 8:00 a.m. and boys at 9:00 a.m. All junior high athletes currently in grades 6, 7, and 8 must have a yearly physical. This is an opportunity to receive a physical at no cost. If your child can not receive their physical on that date you will need to go to your family doctor. Check our website for athletic updates concerning try-out dates for our fall sports. Volleyball tryouts are scheduled for August 10th. Other junior high fall sports include football, cheerleading, and cross country.

Once I have met with each teacher individually, teaching assignments for the 2009/2010 school year will be shared with our parents. Those assignments will be shared in my Thursday Thoughts next week.
