Thursday Thoughts
April 16, 2009
Carlton Rider, Principal |
Glad Tidings to those students who
volunteered to take up the Rice Bowl
collection each weekend during Lent at St.
Mary’s. Those students were: Phil Suozzi,
Aiden Rice, Colton Jones, Kristi Mitchell,
Patrick Sabol, Kelly McGee, Kirsten Miller,
Mara McGee, Jessica Shea, Fitz Dodds, Sam
Dyer, Jared Faulkner, Chris Sielski, Ben
Smith, Nick Alspaugh, Katie Spires, Leah
Boyden, and Abby Albert. Your dedication and
commitment to your parish and school is
greatly appreciated. Thanks to the parents
of these students for your support and
encouragement. If I have not included any
student who volunteered, please let me know
and I will make sure you are recognized in
our next Glad Tidings.
I was very encouraged with the discussion,
support, and enthusiasm of our Advisory
Board and guests at our meeting on April
9th. All of us have had to face the
challenges of the times and I appreciate the
concerns of the board and their willingness
to work with myself, faculty and staff to
ensure that we continue to provide a
top-quality education built on a solid
Catholic foundation. Difficult decisions
will have to be made in the weeks and months
ahead, but knowing that we will be working
together as parents, students, teachers and
administration, makes those decisions less
threatening and very workable.
An important reminder for those planning to
volunteer in the weeks ahead as drivers for
field trips. All drivers MUST have a
completed Volunteer Driver Information form
on file in the office before you will be
allowed to drive on a field trip. That form
can be obtained from either your child’s
teacher or the school office. The volunteer
will also need to bring a copy of his/her
driver’s license and insurance card when the
form is returned or he/she can bring in the
items and we will photocopy. You must also
have on file in our office verification of
attending a Protecting God’s Children
workshop, a BCI report, and a signed
Volunteer Code of Conduct form. Under no
circumstance will a person be permitted to
drive without the above information. Don’t
forget that anyone volunteering, but not
necessarily driving, needs verification of
attending a Protecting God’s Children
workshop, a BCI report, and a signed
Volunteer Code of Conduct form on file in
our school office. Thank you for your
cooperation in regards to the above.
I hope that the days of Holy Thursday, Good
Friday, and Easter bring spiritual renewal
to your life and that you have time to enjoy
family and friends as we celebrate the great
day of Resurrection.
